Participant Feedback
Soundwell was founded in Oct 2000 in response to service-user demand, following a presentation about music therapy in adult mental health at an Arts and Health conference in May 1999.
As an organisation we aim to be as representative as possible of our beneficiary groups and actively encourage service user feedback and involvement.
Some responses to our sessions
“You feel more relaxed and confident at the end of sessions. I felt less stressed which helped me to cope with my personal problems”
“Thank you for the space to begin to explore different ways of sharing and expressing emotions”
“The drumming really released something... ...felt as if something was shifting'”
”“… I feel that my participation in the group was elementary to me gaining the position I have now. I am able to work and communicate within a team and also I am able to actively listen to others….. Music was an important tool in this development.”
Our trustees and staff team include those with the following relevant experience:
- Personal experience of mental illness
- Caring for a family member with severe mental health needs
- Experience as an older adult
Our service is currently being evaluated by a service user researcher at the Research and Development Information Unit at Bath University and we have service user representation on the steering group.
